The Japan and China conflict first began with the aggression of the Japanese forces. First, Japan invaded the Chinese territory of Manchuria in 1933 because of the abundance of resources, like iron and coal. Although the Japanese military government approved of this action, the Parliament and League of Nations were unhappy with Japan, after telling them not to attempt to conquer other nations. After this tensions lowered and China and Japan were at a stalemate for a few years. That is, until 1937 when the conflict turns into a full-blown war. Unfortunately for China, the Japanese military was much stronger and more proficient than the Chinese military, and Japan won. The capital of China, Nanking, was one of the many cities that Japan took over on their conquest. In Nanking alone 150,000 Chinese civilians and soldiers were killed, but it didn't end there. Japan then continued to press against the Japanese and there attacks never stopped on the much weaker Chinese.
